VI Logger Execution Error 4523

Primary Software: Other NI Software>>VI Logger
Primary Software Version: 1.1.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem: When trying to run a VI Logger task, the following error occurs:

VI Logger Execution Error:
Could not start task: NI-DAQ Task
Error 4523 occurred at an unidentified location.

Possible reason(s):

VI Logger: Load Library: Could not load lvdaq.dll

Solution: You must be a Standard user (ie. in the Power Users Group) or an Administrator in order to access dll's in the WINDOWS/System32 directory; a Restricted user cannot. The folder VI Logger containing FPLVMgr.dll is located in the WINDOWS/System32 directory, and thus requires a user of VI Logger to be at least a Standard user. Here are ways to get around the issue (for Windows XP; some directions may vary slightly for other operating systems):

  • Fix 1: Log on using a Standard user or an Administrator account.

  • Fix 2: Enhance the user's account status. If the user is a Restricted user and you would like to grant the user Standard user status, do the following:

    1. Log on to the machine of interest as an Administrator (so you can modify user accounts).

    2. Go to Start -> Control Panel, double click User Accounts, then double click the user who needs to use VI Logger (this opens the account's properties window).

    3. Select Standard user, click Apply and then OK. This user can now log in and use VI Logger.

  • Fix 3: If the user is a Restricted user and you would like to grant the user Administrator status see Fix 2 above, only set the user as an Administrator (in the account properties window, select Administrators from the Other: drop down selector).
