Requirements Gateway Cannot Connect to a DOORS Server

Problem:
I am using Requirements Gateway, and whenever I try to connect to my DOORS server, I get an error message that the connection cannot be created.  The DOORS client works.  How can I get Requirements Gateway to connect to my DOORS server?

Solution:
When Requirements Gateway tries to connect to a DOORS server, it uses information stored in the Windows registry and an environment variable.  Not all connection methods to a DOORS server require this information to be created.  Verify these items exist if you cannot connect to the DOORS server from Requirements Gateway

There are two sets of items you must verify.

  1. Registry Keys
  2. System Environment Variables
WARNING: Inappropriate changes to the Windows Registry can disable your operating system! To safeguard against such an event, you should backup your existing Registry by choosing Registry » Export Registry File after launching the Registry Editor and before making any changes.

Registry Keys

Edit the Windows registry by navigating to Start»Run from the taskbar. In the Run window, type regedit. The following registry keys are required:

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Telelogic\DOORS\x.x\Config\Data = <port>@<servername>
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Telelogic\DOORS\x.x\Config\Home = <path to home folder>
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Telelogic\DOORS\x.x\Config\Security = <setting>

System Environment Variables

Edit system environment variables by opening the System item in the Control Panel.  Click the Advanced tab, and then Environment Variables.  The following system variable is required:

TELELOGIC_LICENSE_FILE =
  • <port>@<servername>
    OR
  • <filepath to local license file>
