How do I create a shared Multisim component database?

Primary Software: Electronics Workbench>>Multisim
Primary Software Version: 9.x
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: Electronics Workbench>>Multicap

Problem: There are several users that use Multisim in our company. Is there a way to create a database where everybody can share components?.

Solution: There are three levels of database in Multisim. The Master database contains all of the read-only components that are shipped with Multisim. The User database is where custom components can be created and stored for personal use. The Corporate database allows custom components to be created by individual users, and can be accessed by anyone over a network. This is the ideal solution for sharing components between several users.

With each Multisim installation a Corporate database is saved to the following folder:C:\Program Files\Electronics Workbench\EWB9\Database\CPCOMP_S.PRJ.

To setup the Corporate database for your company:
  1. Copy the C:\Program Files\Electronics Workbench\EWB9\Database\CPCOMP_S.PRJ file to a network drive
  2. On each machine which requires access to this database, select Options >> Global Preferences
  3. Select the Path tab and redirect the Corporate database path to the shared network drive
