How do I use the BORROW feature in LMTOOLS for my Volume License Agreement?

Primary Software: Other NI Software>>NI Volume License Manager
Primary Software Version: 2.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
I have a Volume License Agreement and I would like to use the BORROW keyword to allow some of my client computers to disconnect from the network and still be able to use their software. Is there a step-by-step instruction on how to do this?

Solution:
To use the Borrow features with FLEXlm, follow the instructions below:
  1. Follow the knowledgebase in the Related Links session to get a license file that contains the Borrow keyword.
  2. Prepare an option file that allows the client computer/user to borrow license.
    Sample syntax:
    INCLUDE_BORROW LabVIEW_PDSM_PKG HOST ClientComputer
If no INCLUDE_BORROW lines are not included in the option file, all computers/users are allowed to borrow. Additional commands related to Borrow can be found in the FLEXnet End Users Guide linked below.
  3. Start the license server.
  4. Set the Borrow Expiration time on the client computer.
You may either do it in the Borrowing tab in LMTOOLS or in the command prompt suing lmborrow.
  5. Launch all the application softwares on the client computer that requires licenses the user wants to borrow.
At this point, the client have borrowed the licenses from the license pool that is set to expire at the expiration date set earlier. The client computer can now re-launch the software without connecting to the server.
  6. The borrowed licenses return to the license pool automatically at the expiration time. To return it early, click Return Borrowed Licenses Early in Borrowing tab with the Feature Name item specified on the client computer.
Refer to the FLEXnet End Users Guide linked below for more information on Borrow feature.
