NI-FBUS configuration software - loop rates, macrocycle granularity, DCS use & address assignment Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-FBUSPrimary Software Version: 2.3.5 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: 1) Does the Configurator software support configuring loops on the same segment to run at different rates? 2) What granularity is supported when specifying macrocycles (i.e.; 250ms, 500ms, ...) 3) Can the Configurator make connections to a DCS as part of the network control strategy? 4) How are devices without an assigned address or tag supported? Solution: 1) Yes, within the limits of the devices you are using you can configure multiple loops with different rates. This means that function blocks can be scheduled multiple times per macrocycle. Devices have different number of scheduling slots for function blocks. If you set loop execution times that would require more slots than are available on a particular device, the Configurator software will warn you. 2) 10ms 3) So long as the DCS's fieldbus interface is on the same segment (link). Also, the DCS must behave as a Fieldbus device (i.e. it must have function blocks visible to the network). 4) For a device at the default (temporary, factory set) address, the Configurator sets the address from the list of available addresses. For devices without tags, the Configurator will assign a tag to the device. The user can change tag. Related Links: Attachments:
