Problem: How do I move a Citadel database from one computer to another?
Solution: There are two methods for moving Citadel Databases:
- Across a network: Archive the database to another computer.
- Open Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX).
- Right-click the database in the Citadel Universe view and select Archive... as shown in Figure 1.
- In the subsequent wizard you can choose databases and their archived location to any networked computer on which the Citadel service is installed.

- Using a storage device: Archive your data to network-attached storage.
- Right-click the database and select Detach/Delete...
- Detach the database.
- Copy the whole database directory located in Program Files»National Instruments»LabVIEW 8.x»Database
- On the new computer in MAX, go to the Citadel Universe view as shown in Figure 1.
- Right-click My Computer.
- Select Create/Attach Database...
- Browse and select from the data folder copied from the original computer.
To communicate with a remote database across a network, you must install LabVIEW DSC Run-Time on the remote machine if using a Citadel 5 database or above. On Citadel 4 databases and below, you will only need to install Logos on the remote machine.
