Installing the DIAdem Connectivity VIs to Multiple Versions of LabVIEW

Problem: I have two versions of LabVIEW installed on my computer (ex 7.1.1 and 8.0). I would like to have the DIAdem Connectivity VIs in both versions of LabVIEW. How can I get the VIs installed for both?
Solution: When you install the VIs, it will only install to one version of LabVIEW. If you run the installer again, it will find the installed version and ask if you would like to modify it. You can uninstall and then reinstall the DIAdem Connectivity VIs. However, this will only install it to the most current version of LabVIEW. If you want to add the VIs to multiple versions of LabVIEW, you will have to manually copy the files to the different LabVIEW locations. Suppose you have two versions of LabVIEW, X and Y, and you want to copy from LabVIEW X to LabVIEW Y. Complete the following steps to copy the appropriate files:
- Copy the DIAdem folder from LabVIEW X\vi.lib\addons\DIAdem to the same location in LabVIEW Y. The addons folder may not exist in LabVIEW Y. If it does not, just go ahead and create it.
- In the new DIAdem directory for LabVIEW Y, make sure all of the .llb files are not set to read-only. If they are, change them so they are not read-only.
- Open LabVIEW and go to Tools>>Advanced>>Mass Compile. Navigate to the addons directory in LabVIEW Y and press the select current folder button. This will mass compile all the DIAdem .llbs so they are up to date.
- Copy _AdDIAdemReportBlock.llb, DIAdemReportConfig.llb, DIAdemReportBlock.llb, and _AdDIAdemReportConfig.llb from the LabVIEW X\vi.lib\platform\express\ folder to the same directory in LabVIEW Y. Again make sure the files are not set to read-only.
- Go to Tools>>Advanced>>Mass Compile and navigate to the four .llbs that were just copied. Select the current folder and mass compile them.
- Copy the DIAdem folder found within LabVIEW X\examples\DIAdem\ to the same directory within LabVIEW Y. Make sure to set this folder and all of its sub folders and files to not be read only.
- Go to Tools>>Advanced>>Mass Compile and mass compile the DIAdem folder that was just copied. After mass compiling, it is recommended to set the folder and all of its sub folders to read-only to make sure that the examples do not get modified.
- Lastly, the help files need to be copied. These are located in LabVIEW X\Help. The two files that need to be copied are "lvdiadem.chm" and "lvdiadem.txt". Place them in the same directory within LabVIEW Y.
- If you want to uninstall the DIAdem Connectivity VIs from LabVIEW Y, you will need to manually delete the files mentioned above from the LabVIEW Y directories.
