FieldPoint Status LED Error Indicators
Hardware: Compact FieldPoint>>Controllers, FieldPoint>>Controllers/Network Modules
Problem: My FieldPoint status LED remains lit or is flashing a certain number of times. What does this mean?
Solution:
Real-Time Controllers [c]FP-2xxx:

Error Condition |
| 0 (stays lit) |
The [c]FP-2xxx did not power on correctly. Contact National Instruments for assistance. |
| 1 |
The [c]FP-2xxx is in reset mode or is unconfigured. Make sure the RESET IP switch is in the OFF position and restart the controller. Refer to the Measurement & Automation Explorer Help for FieldPoint for more information about configuration. |
| 2 |
The [c]FP-2xxx has detected an error in software or firmware. This usually occurs when an attempt to upgrade the software/firmware is interrupted. Repeat the upgrade process. |
| 3 |
The [c]FP-2xxx is in safe mode. Either the controller is ready for software installation or the SAFE MODE switch is in the ON position. |
| 4 |
The [c]FP-2xxx has detected an unrecoverable error. Contact National Instruments for assistance. |
Ethernet Modules FP-160x and cFP-180x:

The module did not power on correctly. Contact National Instruments for assistance. |

Serial Modules FP-1000/1001:

The FP-1000/1001 initialization failed. |
| 1 |
The FP-1000/1001 address switch is incorrectly configured. Refer to the Setting the Network Address section in Chapter 2, Hardware Installation and Configuration. |

The FP-1000/1001 has detected an error in the terminal bases in the bank or has identified a module in an illegal state. Verify that the protective cover is on the local bus connector of the last terminal base and that none of the pins of that connector are touching or bent. |
| 3 |
The FP-1000/1001 has detected an irrecoverable internal error with its firmware. |
| 5 |
The network module was unable to locate an I/O module waiting to be configured. Verify that there are no more than nine terminal bases in the bank, and that no terminal bases were added to the bank while power was applied. |
To open the Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) Help for FieldPoint:
- Open MAX by navigating to Start»All Programs»Measurement & Automation.
- In MAX, navigate to Help»Help Topics»FieldPoint.
A single flash is commonly seen when attempting to network a FieldPoint module.

NOTE: The flashing occurs intermittently. Be careful not to interpret a single reoccurring flash with a higher number of flashes.
