How Can I Reset the Multisim or Ultiboard User Interface to its Default Configuration?

Primary Software: Electronics Workbench>>Multisim
Primary Software Version: 9.x
Primary Software Fixed Version: 9.x
Secondary Software: Electronics Workbench>>Ultiboard

Problem:

I was using the Options » Customize User Interface... dialog to add commands to my menus. I accidentally deleted one of my menus entirely. Now I can't get that menu back to my user interface.

In other cases, I am missing menu items or I locked my Multisim User Interface as a Simplified Version.



Solution:

Multisim and Ultiboard allows you to customize your user interface experience. You can add/delete functions from menus, and buttons from toolbars. You can also modify the menu hierarchy, but one thing you can't do is to create a new menu.

In order for you to get your menus back up in case you accidentally deleted one, you need to delete your user configuration file from the installation folder and relaunch Multisim or Ultiboard, a new configuration file will be generated when the program is restarted.

Note: You will lose any customizations to the user interface.

 

Version 10.x
The file you are looking for will be in this folder:

  • C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\National Instruments\Circuit Design Suite\10.x\config 
    •  

The file is typically called: standard_ms_uni.ewcfg or standard_ub_uni.ewcfg, but you can always check in Options » Global Preferences » Paths tab the exact name.

 

Version 9 (and older versions)
The file you are looking for will be in any of these folders, depending on the product you are using and installation directory:

  • C:\Program Files\Electronics Workbench\EWB9\Multisim Users
  • C:\Program Files\Electronics Workbench\EWB9\Ultiboard Users

The file you are looking for is called: <username>.ewcfg.

Delete this file and relaunch Multisim or Ultiboard. Your User Interface should now be the original.
