SQL VIs Take a Long Time To Connect To a Data Source Name and Execute

Primary Software: LabVIEW Toolkits>>Enterprise Connectivity Toolset
Primary Software Version: 3.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem: I have a Windows 2000 computer with LabVIEW 6.x and the SQL Toolkit installed. When trying to connect to a Data Source Name, the SQL VIs, including Execute SQL.vi, take a long time to connect. During this time there is a lot of hard disk activity. I have another computer with the same Operating System and toolkit installed and it runs much faster.

This behavior is independent of the database I'm connecting to (whether its local or over the network). What should I do?

Solution: It is possible that "tracing" is enabled in your ODBC Administrator and that is causing the delay in accessing your database.

Complete the following steps to turn off tracing (in Microsoft Access).
  1. Open data sources (ODBC Administrator).
  2. Select your data source and then click the tracing tab.
  3. Choose stop tracing if it is available.
For other ODBC you may not be able to change this setting.
