Which versions of LabVIEW and Test Executive are Compatible?

Problem: Which versions of LabVIEW and Test Executive are compatible?

Solution: The last version of Test Executive, version 5.1.1, is compatible with LabVIEW 5.1 through LabVIEW 8.2.1, inclusive. Test Executive is not compatible with LabVIEW 8.5 and later. For more compatibility information see the LabVIEW Test Executive Version Compatibility Chart linked below.

You must recompile your Test Executive VIs if you choose to use an earlier version of Test Executive in a more recent version of LabVIEW. For example, using Test Executive 5.0 with LabVIEW 6.0 will work, but you will have to recompile the Test Executive VIs.

Earlier Test Executive versions may be available on the Test Executive Disk. For example, if you have Test Executive 5.1, but you only have LabVIEW 4.0, go to the te50 directory on the Test Executive 5.1 CD. This directory contains a pdf readme file containing instructions on how to install Test Executive 5.0. Likewise, Test Executive 5.1 is included on the Test Executive 5.1.1 CD in the directory te51. Also note that versions of LabVIEW prior to version 3.0 did not have Test Executive toolkits as an option.

Test Executive is not directly compatible with LabVIEW 8.5 and later. Although you can recompile your Test Executive VIs in an earlier version of LabVIEW, such as LabVIEW 8.2.1, and load these VIs in LabVIEW 8.5 and later, National Instruments does not support this scenario.


Note: National Instruments has replaced the Test Executive toolkits with a product called TestStand, which contains many new features and expanded capabilities. If you need to upgrade Test Executive, we encourage you to upgrade to TestStand instead.
