Choosing a Style Overwrites Conflicting Properties for Measurement Studio ActiveX Controls

Primary Software: Measurement Studio>>Standard Edition (Starter Kit)
Primary Software Version: 8.0.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem: When I customize a Measurement Studio CWKnob and then choose to apply a style from the Style tab in the Property Pages, all my previous customizations to the CWKnob are lost. This occurs programmatically as well. Why does this happen?

Solution: Styles for the Measurement Studio ActiveX user interface controls, including the CWKnob, CWSwitch, and so on, comprise a set of pre-defined properties intended to make customizing a control faster and easier. As a result, using a style overwrites any existing customizations that conflict with the properties included in the pre-defined style.

To work around this issue, you can do one of the following steps:
  • Set the style first, then customize the control, or
  • Save the properties and reapply them to the control after the style is applied.
