How Do I Configure the FTP Server on the TPC-2006/2012? Hardware: Industrial Communications>>HMI and Industrial PC>>TPC-2006
Problem: How can I configure my NI TPC-2006 and TPC-2012 for file transfers using FTP? Solution: In order to configure the NI TPC-2006/2012 to accept FTP file transfers, you must configure the device to act as an FTP server using the Windows CE Network Configuration Utility. This requires that the device be connected to a network and have a valid IP address. By default, the TPC-2006/2012 is configured to obtain a unique IP address automatically using DHCP. You can view and alter the network settings for the TPC-2006/2012 through the TPC Configurator application. This can be found under Start»Programs»Utilities»TPC Configurator for the TPC-2006 and Start»Programs»Utilities»Configuration Utility for the TPC-2012 or by double-clicking the TPC Configurator icon on the desktop. The IP address is listed under the Network tab of the configurator window. Take note of the IP address, as this is required for configuring the TPC-2006/2012 to act as an FTP server. The Network Configuration Utility also provides an interface for you to configure all aspects of the network settings, user accounts, and FTP server for the TPC-2006/2012 from a remote computer. The configuration interface is slightly different for both the TPC-2006/2012 as described below.
At a minimum, you must select Yes for Server Enabled under the Basic Configuration settings. Depending on your security requirements, you may or may not want to select Yes for Require Authentication, Allow Anonymous Users, Allow Anonymous Uploads, and Allow Anonymous users to virtual roots. The settings shown on Figures 3 and 4 can be used for the best ease of use where network security is not an issue. It may also be required to change the Default Directory under Basic Configuration settings to modify the directory users will see when they login to the FTP server of the TPC-2006/2012. Choose anywhere on the file system, such as \HardDisk\ and users will be restricted to accessing that directory and subdirectories of that directory. When you have completed configuring the FTP server as you would like, click the Submit button at the bottom of the FTP Server Configuration page to save and receive confirmation that your settings have taken effect. With the FTP server correctly configured, you will be able to login and transfer files to and from the NI TPC-2006/2012 through FTP. To transfer files from Internet Explorer, enter ftp://xx.xx.xx.xx where xx.xx.xx.xx is the IP address of the NI TPC-2006/2012. You can now browse the file structure of the TPC-2006/2012, and drag and drop files to and from the device. Related Links: Attachments:
