User Database Cannot Be Read in Multisim or Ultiboard

Primary Software: Electronics Workbench>>Multisim
Primary Software Version: 10.0.267
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: Electronics Workbench>>Ultiboard

Problem:

When I open Multisim or Ultiboard I receive the following warning:

Not a valid password. The User Database cannot be read. Features using the User Database will not work.

For some reason I have no access to the User Database configured for this workstation.

Solution:

In order for you to see this problem the User Database must be corrupted. You can fix this problem if you follow these instructions (applies for both Multisim and Ultiboard):

  1. Select Options » Global Preferences...
  2. Select the Paths tab and take note of the User Database location.
  3. Exit the Preferences dialog and Close the software.
  4. Locate the folder where your User Database is stored (*.usr).
  5. Rename the User Database to any other name.
  6. Launch the software, a new User Database will be created with no components.
  7. Select Tools » Database » Merge Database...
  8. Choose the database you renamed and click Start.
  9. Now you have your user components in a new database and you can delete the old User Database.
NOTE: You may need to convert your database to the latest version. If this is the case, use Tools » Database » Convert Database... instead of the Merge function, this will convert and merge at the same time.
