Problem: When using M Series devices with SCXI, can I still performed clocked DIO operations on DIO port 0? Solution: Yes, the DIO lines not used for SCXI communication are available for use. With PCI devices, Port 0 lines 0,1,2 are used as digital outputs in SCXI communication, and DIO 4 is used as a digital input. Therefore, the remainder of Port 0 can be used for hardware-timed digital input or output. Using an SCXI-1349, you can use a 50 pin cable to access the additional digital lines. With PXI devices used in a combo chassis to control SCXI through the backplane, a separate SPI port on the STC 2 is used for SCXI communication. Therefore, all DIO lines on Port 0 are available for use via the I/O connector of the M Series device.
