How to Associate a Database with a Task in VI Logger

Primary Software: Other NI Software>>VI Logger
Primary Software Version: 2.0.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
When I try to run a task in VI Logger, I encounter an error "Database does not exist in specified path." Why does this happen?

Solution:
This error occurs because the task does not have a database associated with it. You can complete the following steps to associate a database with your specified task if you have VI Logger Full.

  1. Select a VI Logger task. Click the Task Attributes tab to open the Task Attributes view if it is not already open.
  2. Click the Advanced task settings button to display the Task Properties dialog box.
  3. Enter the path to the database you want to associate with the task in the Database Path text box, or click the Browse button next to the text box to display the Manage Database dialog box.
  4. From the Manage Database dialog box, navigate to a local VI Logger database on the computer or a remote database on the network. Click the Use with task button to associate the database with your specified task. Click the Close button to return to the Task Properties dialog box.
  5. Click the OK button to save the database settings and return to the Task Attributes view.

Note: LabVIEW Datalogging and Supervisory Control (DSC) Module, Lookout, and the Lookout evaluation also have the ability to manipulate this database. If you have one of these software packages installed on your system, follow the instructions below to associate a database.

  1. Open Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX).
  2. In the Configuration window, expand Historical Data and click on Citadel 5 Universe.
  3. In the pane on the right, expand My Computer look for a database named "VI Logger Data". It should be spelled, capitalized, and spaced the exact same way.
  4. If the database does not exist, right click on My Computer and select Create/Attach Database... In the dialog box, enter the database path "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\National Instruments\VI Logger" and the database name "VI Logger Data" and click ok
  5. If "VI Logger Data" does exist, right click on it and select Detach/Delete... and detach the database. Then, attach the database as described in the previous step.
