How To Make an Executable Start Upon Boot-Up of an NI TPC

Primary Software: LabVIEW Modules>>PDA Module
Primary Software Version: 8.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A
Hardware: Industrial Communications>>HMI and Industrial PC>>TPC-2006

Problem:
How can I set an executable built using the LabVIEW PDA or Touch Panel module to start upon boot-up of the NI TPC-2006, TPC-2012, or TPC-2106/T?

Solution:
There are two ways to have a LabVIEW executable or any executable begin running upon boot-up of a TPC:

TPC Configurator method
  1. Download the executable to the TPC from the development machine using FTP or ActiveSync.
  2. If using a TPC-2006 or TPC-2012, launch the TPC Configurator application on the TPC by clicking the icon on the desktop or going to Start»Programs»Utilities»TPC Configurator.  If using a TPC-2106 or TPC-2106T, launch the National Instruments Configurator on the TPC by going to Start»Programs»Configuration Utility.
  3. Click on the Misc. tab.
  4. Enter the absolute path of the executable that you want to run upon startup.

File Explorer method
  1. Download the executable to the TPC from the development machine using FTP or ActiveSync.
  2. Open File Explorer or My Documents.
  3. Browse to the folder named HardDisk.
  4. Browse to the folder named Startup.
  5. Place the executable into the /HardDisk/Startup folder.

With these steps complete, reboot the TPC, and the executable will launch upon startup.
