Why Should I Not Set Link Local for Both the Wired and the Wireless Configurations?Hardware: Multifunction DAQ (MIO)>>Wireless DAQ>>WLS-9163
Problem: I'm setting up the wired and wireless configuration for my WLS-9163, and both have been set to link local. After this setup is done, if I disconnect the ethernet connection, I get an error message like the one in figure 1, with error number -201250:
Solution: The first thing you will do is to connect your WLS-9163 with an ethernet cable to your computer. When connecting your WLS-9163 in this way, obtaining the IP address will default to "Link Local", due to the fact that you probably don't have a DHCP server running on your computer. The second step will be to set the wireless configuration. If you also set the wireless on the WLS-9163 to use "Link Local" the computer will communicate with the device through the wire link while both links are up. This will allow you to use the WLS-9163 without problems while the wire link is up. If you unplug the cable and you try to "refresh" Measurement and Automation Explorer, error message -201250 will pop up since your computer is still trying to access the device through the ethernet link. Moreover, if you delete the WI-FI DAQmx configuration at this point, the WLS-9163 won't show up agian in MAX by pressing “Find Network NI-DAQmx Devices” or "Refresh list". To solve this press the RESET button on the WLS-9163 till the STATUS LED comes up (more then 5 secs). To solve this problem you have three options:
