Why Is My Color Bar Measurement in Greyscale in VideoMASTER?

Primary Software: Other NI Software>>NI VideoMASTER
Primary Software Version: 1.0.3
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
I am performing a color bar measurement in VideoMASTER, but when I refresh the image in the Picture tab of the user interface the color bar image is in greyscale. Why can I not see this image in color?

Solution:
There are two possible reasons that this could be occurring.

Reason One:

The availability of color images in the user interface Picture tab was not introduced to VideoMASTER until version 2.2.0. It is likely that you have a version of VideoMASTER prior to 2.2.0, therefore, this is expected behavior. In version 2.2.0 the Picture tab of the user interface should look like the following image when making a color bar measurement, however, the greyscale image should hold true for all images in the Picture tab, prior to 2.2.0.

This information is included in the VideoMASTER release notes that install with the software. You can find the release notes in the file path <microLEX Systems>\VideoMASTER\Releasenotes.htm.

Reason 2:

In VideoMASTER 3.0 the picture display will display color images for clean NTSC and PAL signals. The subcarrier frequencies for these video signal formats are 3.58MHz and 4.43MHz, respectively. There are other forms of the PAL signal format, such as PAL-N and PAL-M that use the NTSC subcarrier frequency of 3.58MHz, but adhere to the other PAL format specifications for number of lines and frame rate. In VideoMASTER, however, these signals are still acquired using the PAL acquisition settings. Because of this the picture display, when performing PAL acquisition, only displays colors that it detects on the 4.43MHz subcarrier frequency, not at 3.58MHz, like these signals.
