What do I do about "Wrong OS or Wrong OS Version" when Installing NI Software in Windows

Primary Software:
Primary Software Version: 7.4
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem: When installing some NI software I get "Wrong OS or Wrong OS version." I have the correct version of Windows as indicated by the documentation for the NI software. The error seems to be mistaken.

Solution: There has been some cases where the Microsoft Installer version is not "up to date" or corrupt. This MSI engine is where any software will look during installation to see if the correct version of Window is present.

To fix this problem:
  • Go to www.msdn.com and search for MSI.
  • Download the correct version corresponding to your windows version.
  • Install the self-extracting file.
  • Try installing the NI software again.
