LabVIEW and Signal Express on Windows Vista does not Correctly Display User Licensing Information Primary Software: LabVIEW Development Systems>>Full Development SystemPrimary Software Version: 8.2.1 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: LabVIEW Signal Express>>Development System
Problem: When I license my copy of LabVIEW or SignalExpress, the user information I entered is not displayed correctly. For example, in LabVIEW, the splash screen does not show my user information (name, organization, serial number). Also, with both LabVIEW and SignalExpress, if I switch users, the new user doesn't have valid user information displayed in the NI License Manager. Is this a licensing problem? Solution: This behavior is due to Windows Vista's virtualization of registry entries. Because the DLLs that read and write this information to and from the registry are not allowed access to the HKLM portion of the registry, a virtualization store is created on a per-user basis. This means that if you change users, any information stored for user A will not appear for user B.Also, for LabVIEW’s splash screen, since LabVIEW is running in user mode and is Vista aware, all calls to write user licensing information into the registry are ignored, thus leaving values entered during install unchanged.
