How Do the Module Slots on the SC-2345 Map to the Channels on the DAQ Cards? Hardware: SCC>>Modules, SCC>>Carriers>>SC-2345
Problem: Whenever I configure my SC-2345 and add the SCC modules to the slots, the channel number that appears right next to the module doesn't match to the channel numbers appearing when configuring a Task for them. What are all these channel numbers and why are they different? Solution: Let's use an SCC-TC02 module and an SC-2345 as an example. After configuring them in MAX and by looking at the diagram below, you may think that the circled channel will be the channel to select when configuring a Task for the SC-TC02. The numbers bordered by the black rectangle are the channels on the DAQ card the module slot is mapped to. In the case of 2 input modules, the slot is mapped to the two different channel numbers that appear on the diagram below. For example, J1 is mapped to Channels 0 and 8 in Reference Single Ended Mode. However, in Differential Mode, it is mapped to just Channel 0. However, when configuring a Task particular to that module, one finds out that there is the option of selecting a "different channel" (ai0 in this case): The reason for this is that this channel (ai0) refers specifically to the module. In other words, it tells you what channels within the SCC-TC02 module you can use. On the other hand, the channel circled in the first picture (SC-2345 pic.bmp) refers to the channels being used by the DAQ board, NOT by the SCC-TC02 module. In other words, the results when going to the Test Panels of the SCC-TC02 (reading SCC1Mod3/ai0) and when going to the Test Panels of the DAQ board and reading channel 2 is going to be same. I know that I need to read channel 2 from the DAQ board because that is the channel indicated right next to the module (take a look again at the circled channel in the diagram SC-2345.gif) Related Links: Attachments:
