Problem:
I would like to use Relays or Multiplexers with a USB Controller. What are my options?

Solution:
National Instruments offers three different ways of accomplishing switching and muxing over USB. You can either use our CompactDAQ, USB Sleeve. or SCXI platforms.

CompactDAQ:
We offer two relay modules for the CompactDAQ Platform: the NI 9181 and the NI 9185 , both of which are controlled via the NI-DAQmx Digital write functions. Additionally we offer multiple Industrial Digital Output modules that which can be used to the same affect with 3rd party external relay circuitry.

USB Sleeve:
The NI 9181, NI 9472 can both be used in the USB-9162 Sleeve and are programmed similarly to the CompactDAQ option.

SCXI:
There are many Relay and Multiplexer options that utilize SCXI. We offer the USB-1600 controller, which will fit in the SCXI chassis and provide USB connectivity to your SCXI Switch Modules. The modules can be controlled through the NI-Switch or NI-DAQmx Switch API and thus can be used with Switch Executive.

For higher density, bandwidth, current, and/or voltage, National Instrument recommends the PXI platform for your switching needs.
