National Instruments Measurement Studio support for NI Modular Instruments cannot be installed.

Problem:
Measurement Studio support for Modular Instruments cannot be installed when the following procedure is followed.

  1. Install a version of the Driver CD which contains version X of IVI

  2. Install Measurement Studio

  3. Install a Modular Instrument (NI-DMM, NI-FGEN, NI-SCOPE, or NI-SWITCH) from its own distribution which includes version Y of IVI, where Y < X. Note that NI-SWITCH also ships with NI-DAQmx.



At this point it will not be possible to install Measurement Studio support for the Modular Instrument, given that those features depend on the Measurement Studio support for IVI. Measurement Studio support for IVI cannot be installed from the Modular Instrument distribution since the version in the distribution is lower than the version installed in the system, so both the MS IVI features and the Modular Instrument MS features will have a red slashed circle in the metainstaller.

Solution:

  1. Workaround

    • After installing Measurement Studio, re-run the Driver CD installer and install Measurement Studio support for IVI.

    • Then install the Modular Instrument and you will be able to install Measurement Studio support for it.



  2. Workaround

    • Uninstall IVI from Add/Remove Programs before installing the Modular Instrument from its distribution.

    • Note that this will place an older version of the IVI Compliance Package on your system than you previously had installed.
