Vision Acquisition Software and Vision Builder AI Installers do not Install Support for Compact Vision System (CVS) on my Host ComputerPrimary Software: Driver Software>>Vision Acquisition SoftwarePrimary Software Version: N/A Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: Driver Software>>NI-Serial
Problem: When I try to install Vision 8.2.3 Acquisition Software, I get a cannot install symbol from the installer for the NI-IMAQ I/O 2.0.2. Or if I try to install Vision Builder AI 3.0.1, I get the same symbol next to NI CVS-1450 Series Support(see Figure 1 below). Why won't NI CVS-1450 Series Support install? Solution: This is a known issue with host computers that already have an installation of the NI-Serial driver. You can verify this problem by checking your version of NI-Serial in the Read Me file. Select Start Programs » National Instruments » NI-Serial » Readme. If you have version 3.3 or greater, the Vision Acquisition Software or Visuin Builder AI installer run on your host computer will have the product incompatability symbols shown below.
The problem is that the incompatible components will not install unless NI-Serial for RT can install. NI-Serial for RT will not install unless NI-Serial can install. NI-Serial can tell that a newer version of the NI-Serial driver is already on the system (the Vision Acquisition Software and Vision Builder AI Installers try to install NI-Serial versions 3.2). Because NI-Serial can not install, NI-Serial for RT can not install. This also affects the incompatible components. This problem will not happen on a computer that has NI-Serial and NI-Serial for RT installed. There are two ways to put the host computer in a state where the Vision Software can install correctly.
