Performing Pulse Generation with Counters on the USB-6008/6009

Issue Details

I have an NI DAQ card with counters, for example the NI 6602. The counters on the NI 6602 can do pulse generation. I have tried to do the same with the counters on the USB-6008 or USB-6009 but I cannot figure out how. Can the USB-6008 or USB-6009 do pulse generation?

Solution

No, the USB-6008 and USB-6009 only support edge counting on their counters. Many counters on NI DAQ cards have the ability to generate a pulse train. This requires a counter gate and a counter source, which is explained more fully in the White Paper linked below.

The counter gate is not accessible on the USB-6008/6009 devices. These devices can be used ONLY for simple event counting using PFI0 as an event counter input.
