Solution: The following information is contained in the drivers.txt file (under c:\images\...) on your VXI controller.
PCMCIA
Software Installation
---------------------
The following installation instructions are operating-system specific. Please refer to the section appropriate for your system. Also refer to the PCMCIA documentation included in the c:\images\manuals directory.
DOS/Windows 3.11
1. Run c:\images\pcmcia\win311\setup.exe under Windows.
2. The PCMCIA software does not natively recognize the PCI-PCMCIA chip used by the VXIpc 800/700 Series. The setup program prompts you that the PCMCIA adapter could not be found, and displays a list of PCMCIA adapters. Choose other.
3. The setup program also prompts you for the type of computer you are using. Select Desktop system.
4. Finally, when prompted, select the two PCMCIA slot option.
When the installation is complete, you need to edit your config.sys file. The following steps show how to edit this file.
1. At the DOS prompt, type edit c:\config.sys. The PCMCIA installer should have added a line similar to the following:
device=c:\cardwiz\NULL /SKT:2
.
.
.
device=c:\cardwiz\csalloc.exe
2. Modify the following lines as shown, save the file, and exit the editor.
device=c:\cardwiz\ssppec.exe /SKT:2
device=c:\cardwiz\csalloc.exe /s
3. Copy the ssppec.exe file from c:\images\pcmcia and place it in c:\cardwiz using the following command:
copy c:\images\pcmcia\ssppec.exe c:\cardwiz
4. Finally, copy the csalloc.ini and cardid.ini files from c:\images\pcmcia and place them in c:\cardwiz using the following commands:
copy c:\images\pcmcia\csalloc.ini c:\cardwiz
copy c:\images\pcmcia\cardid.ini c:\cardwiz
csalloc.ini defines available interrupts and I/O address space for the CardWizard Card and Socket Services. cardid.ini defines settings about your system.
5. Reboot your computer. The PCMCIA drivers should now be installed.
