Can I Use the 37-Pin Female to Pigtail Compact Fieldpoint Cable with the PCI-6239 Card? Hardware: Compact FieldPoint>>Connector Blocks>>cFP-CB-1, Multifunction DAQ (MIO)>>M Series>>PCI-6239
Problem: I have a PCI-6239 card and a Compact FieldPoint controller. I noticed that both devices use the same 37-pin female to male shielded cable (Part number: 778621-01). I have also noticed that the Compact FieldPoint (cFP) controller has another recommended cable that maps out the 37-pin connector to pigtail connections (Part number: 189802-04). Can I use the pigtail connector with my PCI-6239 since it too has 37 pins? Solution: It is not recommended to use the 37-pin female to pigtail connector with any sort of PCI DAQ card with 37 pins. The 37-pin female to pigtail connector for the cFP is specifically made for fieldpoint devices using the DIN-rail-mounted connector block. Pins 33 and 34 are specifically grouped together since they are voltage supply terminals (V terminals) on the cFP. Pins 35 and 36 are grouped together since they are common terminals (C terminals) on the cFP. If you try to use the cFP specifically made cable with your PCI DAQ card, these pins may give you serious problems. For example, on the PCI-6239 card, pin 35 is P1 ground and pin 36 is PFI7/P1.1 output channel. Since these two terminals are tied together, you will have a short between PFI output and ground.
