LabVIEW 2017 Splash Screen Displays Unregistered

Problem:
Why does LabVIEW 2017 installed via Volume License Installer display Unregistered on the splash screen?

Solution:
When installing software using a Volume License Installer, NI License Manager never prompts the user to log in. Products, most notably LabVIEW, use the NI License Manager's new API to get user information from the user that is logged into License Manager. When that information is not available, it displays "Unregistered" on the splash/about screen instead.
 
This behavior is completely cosmetic and in no way affects the licensing or execution of LabVIEW. The "Unregistered" string is not reflective of the licensing status of LabVIEW but instead is simply not registered to a user similar to how you are able to continue using our hardware while ignoring any NI "Register your Hardware" pop-ups you get when logging into Windows. 

This can be avoided with the following steps below:
  1. Open NI License Manager 
  2. Initiate the activation of any NI software 
  3. Upon prompt, log in to your NI.com account 
  4. Exit the activation process while remaining logged in

 Alternatively, you can use the command line utility to do a similar process.
