Configuration of GPIB Devices in Linux

Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-488.2
Primary Software Version: 1.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
I am trying to set up my GPIB device in Linux. Is there a configuration tool I can use?

Solution:
The configuration tool available in Linux is the GPIB Explorer.

GPIB Explorer is used for the following cases:
  • Ensuring that PCI or USB devices are detected properly
  • Adding GPIB-ENET/100 interfaces
    • To add the GPIB-ENET/100, click the New... button.
Note: You can’t add PCI or USB devices because they will be automatically detected and added here for you. If a plug-and-play device doesn’t show up here, something is wrong with the setup.

To run the GPIB Explorer type the following commands:

As root:
/usr/local/bin/gpibexplorer

Not as root:
sudo /usr/local/bin/gpibexplorer
