Error -89140 When Routing a Signal for a DAQmx Device In a PXI Real-Time SystemPrimary Software: LabVIEW Modules>>Real-Time ModulePrimary Software Version: 7.1 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: Driver Software>>NI-DAQmx Hardware: Multifunction DAQ (MIO)>>E Series
Problem: I am writing a data acquisition application in which I will like to share the analog input sample clock to the analog output so both operations are synchronized. I am routing the signal as it is shown in the example program PID Control-Single Channel.vi that comes with the LabVIEW Real-Time module. This is in a PXI system running LabVIEW RT. However, when I run the VI, I am getting Error -89140. How can I fix this?Solution: Error -89140 occurs when the driver cannot complete the trigger routing due to no trigger being configured in Measurement & Automation Explorer(MAX), but this is not the only circumstance which can cause the error. Another possible reason that Error -89140 appears is that the PXI system has not been identified correctly under MAX. This can occur when a system has been updated to newer drivers or a later version of LabVIEW than was originally being developed on. To verify resolve the error, follow these steps:
Your VI should run now. If you still experience problems getting the routing section of your VI to work, try running one of the shipped examples that come with LabVIEW RT to verify that the routing functions are called correctly.
