Changing the Wire Mode of a Serial Card on LabVIEW RT 7.1 on a PXI-814x Series Controller Fails with Error -1073807360Primary Software: LabVIEW Modules>>Real-Time ModulePrimary Software Version: 7.1 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A Hardware: Serial>>RS-485>>PXI-8423/4
Problem: I have an application running in LabVIEW RT that changes the wire mode of my RS-485 serial card dynamically. After I upgraded to LabVIEW RT 7.1, it stopped working. I found KnowledgeBase 2EMAARXY (see link below) that explains that you need to set the wire mode using property nodes, instead of using the ni-rt.ini file, however my VI errors out of the property node with error code -1073807360. Solution: This problem is only seen on 8140 series controllers, and has already been documented in CAR 3AD98ABZ. Basically, the niserial.ini is missing some key entries that will allow this to work. The fixed filed is attached to this KB and you can also find it in the CAR. Here are the steps that you need to follow to get it to work:
To make sure that the file always gets uploaded when you install software into your controller, also copy this file into the host computer. To do that, browse to the <National Instruments>\RT Images\NI-Serial\driver version\ and also overwrite the niserial.ini file located in there.
