Customizing DAQ Assistant Inputs and Outputs

Primary Software: LabVIEW Development Systems>>Base Package
Primary Software Version: 1.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: LabVIEW Development Systems>>Base Package

Problem:
How can I customize the inputs and outputs on my DAQ Assistant?

Solution:
To customize inputs and outputs, the DAQ Assistant must be converted to a subvi.  The underlying code of the DAQ Assistant will be utilized within this subvi but the VI's interactive configuration window will no longer be available.  The following steps will create a subVI that utilizes the DAQ Assistant code and includes the Physical Channel as an input.

Place a DAQ Assistant on the block diagram

Complete the configuration steps in the DAQ Assistant popup windows

When finished, the DAQ Assistant should contain inputs/outputs corresponding to the configuration

Right click the DAQ Assistant and select Open Front Panel

Select Convert when prompted

Save this subvi because it will be used instead of the original DAQ Assistant in your program

On the block diagram, right click the Physical Device constant and select Change to Control

The VI's Icon must be changed to include these inputs.  On the front panel, right click the icon and select Show Connector.  Select an input square on the connector pane and then select the Physical Device control immediately after.  Save the VI and exit.

These new inputs will be added to the DAQ Assistant.  You will not be able to double click on this VI and receive a configuration window because it is a subvi
