What is the Significance of 2.7 sec. for the Peak Current Value in the MID-7652/54 User Manual?Hardware: Motion Control>>Power Drives
Problem: MID-7652/54 User Manual lists the following under Servo Amplifier specifications on page 31: Peak current limit (2.7 s)........................ 1.7-10 A (default 1.7 A) What does 2.7 s exactly mean? Solution: The peak current limit is the maximum current your motor can withstand for short periods of time. The continuous current limit is the maximum current your motor can withstand indefinitely. Whenever necessary (high acceleration, momentary high load on axis, etc.) the controller will output currents higher than continuous current and less than or equal to the peak current. This is done for a maximum of 2.7 seconds and once that has passed the current will be clamped down to the continuous current value. When the clamping takes effect the controller will still control the axis but with less current. Once the current goes below the continuous current the clamping will be disabled but will be enabled if the current goes above the continuous current for 2.7 seconds again. This is done to avoid overheating the motor and the drive under heavy conditions. Related Links: Product Manual: MID-7654/7652 Servo Power Motor Drive User Guide Attachments:
