GPIB Diagnostic on Windows 95/98/NT

Hardware: GPIB

Problem:
How do I run the GPIB Diagnostic on Windows 95/98/NT?

Solution:
  • Under Start » Programs » GPIB Software, select Diagnostic.

  • Click on Test All.

If the GPIB board does not show up in the Diagnostics list, you will most likely get the following error message:

The most likely causes will be listed inside the error message box: resource conflict, incorrect software configuration, or improper driver software installation. You can try other available resources or remove other devices or peripherals from your computer to free up resources.

If the Interface Name is set to None, browse to Start » Settings » Control Panel and click on System. Click on the Device Manager tab. Click the + next to "National Instruments GPIB Interfaces" to display the AT-GPIB/TNT listing. Double-click on AT-GPIB/TNT and select the NI-488.2M Settings tab. Make sure Interface Name is set to GPIB0 (or another setting if you have several GPIB boards installed).

If you have a resource conflict, you can remove this conflict by following the instructions outlined in the documents in the Related Links section below. Choose the document based on your operating system.

If the board does show up, select Test All.

If the GPIB Diagnostics pass, your board and driver are correctly installed. The next step is to communicate with your device using the Interactive Control (IBIC).
