IVI-Engine Does Not Work For Guest or Non-Administrator Accounts Under Windows 2000

Primary Software: Instrument Drivers/IVI>>IVI Engine Package
Primary Software Version: 1.83
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem: The IVI Engine will fail to load when guests or non-administrators are logged onto Windows 2000. The problem is that guests and non-administrators do not have read and write access to the registry key that IVI is trying to access.

Solution: To fix this issue, you can grant permission to guests and non-administrators by following the steps below in the registry:

Use Caution when making changes to the registry!

  1. Log onto the computer as an administrator
  2. Open the registry editor (regedt32.exe) by going to Start»Run and type regedt32, and then press OK.
  3. Using the windows provided, browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\National Instruments\IVI. From the main menu, choose Security»Permissions. If "Everyone" is present, double-click it and modify the permission to "Full Control". If not, click "Add", choose "Everyone", and give them "Full Control".
