Why Am I Missing Some VIs when I Upgrade My Signal Processing Toolset for LabVIEW from Version 6 to Version 7?Primary Software: LabVIEW Development Systems>>Full Development SystemPrimary Software Version: 7.1 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: LabVIEW Toolkits>>Advanced Signal Processing Toolset
Problem: I have been using version 6 of the Signal Processing Toolset successfully for a while. I have now tried to upgrade to version 7 of the toolset, but when I place some VIs from the toolset, they have broken run arrows. When I open them, I find that some subVIs are missing. One specific example is "SPT_Basic Error Code to Error Cluster.vi." Solution: Version 7 of the Signal Processing Toolset adds a significant amount of functionality above what version 6 offered. In doing so, it uses several new subVIs that are included in LLB files that also existed with version 6. For example "SPT_Basic Error Code to Error Cluster.vi" is contained inside the Misc.llb library file. Version 6 of the toolset uses a smaller Misc.llb library file that contains fewer VIs. Upgrading to version 7 does not replace this llb file, so the newer VIs are not added. The solution is to uninstall both version 7 and version 6 of the toolset, then reinstall only one version. This toolset was not designed for multiple versions to coexist, and the documentation for the toolset states that you should always uninstall any previous versions before installing a newer one.
