How Do I Install National Instruments Drivers on a PDA Emulator?

Primary Software: LabVIEW Modules>>PDA Module
Primary Software Version: N/A
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
I am working on a PDA application that requires National Instruments drivers and I need to test my program on one of the PDA emulators. How can I install the drivers I need on the emulator and then deploy my program?

Solution:
In order to install National Instruments drivers on a PDA emulator, you need to cradle the emulator first. The procedure for cradling a PDA emulator is detailed below:
  1. Make sure the correct emulator target has been added to the Project Explorer
  2. Deploy any VI to the emulator. Even an empty VI works. This step is only for launching the emulator.
  3. Once the emulator has been launched, open the Emulator Manager by right-clicking the emulator target in the Project Explorer and selecting Properties. In the new dialog box that appears, click on Launch Device Emulator Manager.
  4.  In the Device Emulator Manager, the PDA emulator will show up under the Others category described by a set of alphanumeric characters (as shown in image below). If the emulator does not show up, click on the Refresh button.

  5. At this point, you can cradle the emulator by simply right-clicking it and selecting Cradle. Cradling the emulator will establish a connection with Microsoft ActiveSync. This will make the emulator behave exactly like a real PDA device from the host computer's perspective. The emulator will stay connected to ActiveSync until you close it.
  6. Go back to the LabVIEW Project Explorer, delete the emulator target, and add a real PDA device.
  7. Once the real PDA device target has been added to the project explorer, you can install drivers and additional support software in the same way as if an actual device was connected to the computer (i.e. running the driver installation utilities from the National Instruments programs menu).

Note: If the PDA emulator fails to connect to ActiveSynch when you select Cradle, launch ActiveSync from the task bar, go to File»Connection Settings and make sure that Allow connections to one of the following: is checked, and that DMA is selected on the drop-down list.
