Why Does my CompactRIO Controller Fail to Boot When it is Rapidly Reset?Hardware: CompactRIO>>Controllers>>cRIO-9014, CompactRIO>>Controllers>>cRIO-9074
Problem: I reset my controller by turning it on and off with a relay or other switching device. After switching the power off and on rapidly, it fails to boot properly. Why does this happen and what can I do to prevent it? Solution: When the CompactRIO controller is rapidly switched on and off, some internal components do not have time to settle to allow a proper boot procedure. This will result in the controller failing to boot properly and thus will not allow the controller to function properly. If this happens, simply reset the controller again with a longer off cycle, and the controller will boot properly. National Instruments recommends that the controller switches off for a minimum of 50ms to allow for a proper boot process.
