What Is the Foundation Fieldbus Network Configurator and Do I Need to It to Use a Fieldbus Network?Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-FBUSPrimary Software Version: 2.3.5 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: There is often confusion for new users on what a Fieldbus network requires. Solution: A Foundation Fieldbus is an industrial network that contains intelligent devices that must be configured before they can be used. The Foundation Fieldbus Network Configurator is the software that creates and downloads a configuration for the Fieldbus network. If the network has already been configured, for example by a systems integrator using the configurator, then you can use the Fieldbus network without having the Foundation Fieldbus Network Configurator installed. An HMI/SCADA package, such as Lookout or BridgeVIEW, could talk to the Fieldbus devices using OLE for Process Control (OPC). The only Fieldbus software required is the Fieldbus Communications Manager. The Communications Manager includes nifb.exe, the driver software for the Fieldbus boards, which also functions as a version 1.0 compliant OPC server. The HMI/SCADA package could read or write tag values to any configured Fieldbus device on the network. Related Links: Attachments:
