UMI-7764 Circuitry and Cord Cabling Becomes HotHardware: Motion Control
Problem: I am using the UMI-7764 in my motion control application and some the circuitry in the center of the UMI is becoming hot to the touch. The cord cabling the UMI to my motion control board also becomes very warm. Why is this happening? Solution: When the UMI-7764 is powered up and connected to a motion control board, the cord and internal UMI circuitry should not get hot. If the circuitry is getting hot, check the connectors on your motion control board and verify that you are plugging the cord into the connector that is labeled "Motion I/O" and not to the connector labeled "Digital I/O." You should always cable your UMI to the "Motion I/O" connector. Wiring it to anything else could cause unexpected behavior like overheating.
