Will my NI CVS-1454 work with Vision Builder for Automated Inspection 3.5?

Problem: I have an NI CVS-1454 Compact Vision System and Vision Builder for Automated Inspection 3.5 or later. When I try to install Vision Builder AI on the NI CVS-1454, the installer gives me an error saying that it was unable to complete the installation. Why am I getting this error? How do I install the software?

Solution: Certain revisions of the NI CVS-1454 only have 32 MB of non-volatile memory available on them. However, Vision Builder AI 3.5 or later requires more than 32 MB to install and run. Therefore, you will get an error if you try to install Vision Builder 3.5 or later on these NI CVS-1454 units. To determine if your device is affected, refer to the part number on your device (189139x-02, where x is the revision letter). If your device is revision E or earlier, the device requires an upgrade to 64 MB in order to run Vision Builder AI.

Note: NI CVS-1455 and NI CVS-1456 devices are not affected.

If your NI CVS-1454 device is affected, complete the following steps to send your device to National Instruments to upgrade the memory at a reasonable cost:
  1. Download the correct request form and follow its instructions—Use the Americas or Europe request for depending on your location.
  2. Back up your data—Before sending the device to NI, back up any program or data files. The device will be returned with factory software installed.
  3. Ship the device—You will receive the address of a local repair center when you receive your RMA number. Please clearly indicate the RMA number on the packaging. US and European customers should receive their upgraded device within 10 working days.
