How Should I Set the Address for the NI-FBUS Interface Card? Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-FBUSPrimary Software Version: 2.3.5 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A Hardware: Industrial Communications>>Fieldbus
Problem: The nifSetAddress function seems to work fine for field devices but does not work properly when attempting to use it to set the address for the interface card. Solution: The proper method to set the address for the interface board is to use the Interface Configuration Utility. From the main interface select one of the ports on the interface and then press the edit button. From the edit menu it is possible to specify the Device Address each individual port on the interface. An address between 0x10 and 0x1f (hexadecimal) must be specified, any other values are invalid. The functions nifSetTag, nifSetAddress, and others are intended for use with field devices. Since the NIFB driver relies on the interface to browse and configure the Fieldbus, it cannot be used to change the interface. Related Links: Attachments:
