NI-IMAQ Compatibility with FireWire IEEE 1394a and 1394b

Problem: I recently purchased an IEEE 1394b (Firewire 800) camera. Does NI FireWire hardware/software support this standard?

Solution: As of NI-IMAQ for 1394 version 2.0, the driver software fully supports hardware that adheres to the IEEE 1394b standard, as long as the camera is DCAM compliant.

NI sells one IEEE 1394b FireWire interface card: PCIe-8255R.

All other NI FireWire interface cards have only IEEE 1394a ports, including the Compact Vision System (CVS). Any IEEE 1394b-compliant PCI interface card will still be able to use our NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394 driver (version 2.0 or higher) and retain full functionality.
