NI-DAQmx Library Not Appearing in LabWindows/CVI 8 After Installation

Problem:
I recently upgraded to LabWindows/CVI 8 from LabWindows/CVI 7.1, then installed the latest version of NI-DAQmx. Why does the NI-DAQmx library not appear in LabWindows/CVI 8?

Solution:
If you have NI-DAQmx installed for a previous version of LabWindows/CVI and then install a newer version of LabWindows/CVI and re-install NI-DAQmx, the NI-DAQmx installer will not install support for new version of LabWindows/CVI. This is because the installer will see that you already have NI-DAQmx support installed for the previous version of LabWindows/CVI.

In order to make the NI-DAQmx library appear in the newer version of LabWindows/CVI instead:

  1. Run the NI-DAQmx installer and remove NI-DAQmx support for LabWindows/CVI
  2. Reboot
  3. Run the NI-DAQmx installer again and include NI-DAQmx support for LabWindows/CVI
  4. Reboot

Now when you open up the newer version of LabWindows/CVI, the NI-DAQmx library will appear.

This procedure will also work for Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy).
