What Is the Maximum Signal Rate That I Can Input on My NI X/M/E Series PFI Lines?

Hardware: Multifunction DAQ (MIO)>>X Series, Multifunction DAQ (MIO)>>E Series, Multifunction DAQ (MIO)>>M Series

Problem:
I am looking for information on the signal rate of the PFI lines on my E/M/X Series DAQ card. Where can I find this information and what nomenclature should I look for?

Solution:
The maximum signal rate of the PFI lines varies depending on which E, M, or X Series device you are using. You can find the appropriate maximum signal rate in the specifications for the device.

E Series:
The maximum signal rate you can input on the PFI lines is called the Max external source frequency Up/down counter/timers. This specification is typically 20 MHz for E Series devices.

M Series:
The maximum signal rate you can input on the PFI lines is called the External base clock frequency. This specification is between 0 MHz and 20 MHz for the majority of M Series boards.

X Series:
The maximum signal rate you can input on the PFI lines is called the External base clock frequency. This specification is between 0 MHz and 25 MHz for X Series boards.

The above ranges are given as guidelines, in all cases refer to the specifications for your particular device to confirm.
