Migrating Permission Assignments for Developer Suite in NI VLM Primary Software: Other NI Software>>NI Volume License ManagerPrimary Software Version: 2.0 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: The February 2006 shipment of NI Developer Suite includes new enhancements to the Developer Suite product offering. With the new packages, I know I get the Developer Suite Core package, which contains all the general-purpose programming tools my users need such as NI LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, Measurement Studio, and general-purpose toolkits. Additional software can be added onto my Developer Suite Core package. I had all of my Developer Suite permission assignments configured in NI VLM. When I convert to the new Developer Suite packaging, how will everything work? Solution: You will be automatically moved to the new Developer Suite Core package and any appropriate application options that align with your current Developer Suite subscription. This allows you to immediately take advantage of added software products in the existing configurations. When you receive your volume license file, it will automatically contain the new Developer Suite packages. When you install this license file, NI VLM will prompt you to migrate any assigned permissions from the old package of Developer Suite to the new package of Developer Suite. If you do not migrate your permissions to the new Developer Suite, all of your user and computer permission assignments will be lost. When you migrate your permissions, clients using Developer Suite can continue to use their existing installed software with no changes. The following table shows the previous Developer Suite offerings and the new Developer Suite packages that they should be migrated to within NI VLM.
If you are not using NI VLM to manage your licenses and you are using FLEXlm, you may have to change your options file to match the new package names. Related Links: NI Developer Suite KnowledgeBase 372D8K6E: Using a Volume License File on a FLEXlm Server Attachments:
