Problem: Why does my ValueMotion PCI controller board respond to two different board IDs after switching PCI slots? Solution: Before removing nuLogic PCI boards or moving them to a different slot in the computer, ensure that you remove the board using the "Remove" function in the device manager under Windows 95. If the board is moved to a different slot without doing a remove from the device manager, Windows 95 brings it up as a new board and gives it a new board ID. This causes two PCI boards to show up in the nuLogic Board Configuration Utility. Moreover, if the board gets the same address it previously had, Windows 95 allows the board to respond at both the new as well as the old board ID. This can cause confusion if you have more than one nuLogic PCI board of the same type in your machine. If you did not use the Remove function, you may modify the registry with the following steps to "erase" the boards: (1) Run regedit.exe fom the Windows 95/NT run-line (95: START >> Run >> regedit) (NT4.0: START >> Run >> regedt32). (2) Open up HKey_Local_Machine\Enum\PCI in the registry editor window. (3) Delete the key "VEN_1172&DEV_1247." (4) Open up HKey_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Controller and delete keys depending upon your boardIDs. If the motion controller was at boardID 1 delete 0000 .... if it was at boardID 2 delete 0001 and so on. (5) Select the Controller key Board Addresses and Board Types corresponding to the motion controllers (same numbering as previous step). (6) If there is a value BoardIRQx (where x is any number), then delete that too. After this, you should have no trace of motion controllers in your system.
