Will my GE Fanuc 90/30 Series PLC work with Lookout or IA OPC Servers? Primary Software: LookoutPrimary Software Version: 6.0 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: I have a GE 90/30 PLC and I am trying to communicate to it via Lookout however I receive an error in connection. I am pretty sure that I have connected my devices correctly and would like to confirm that the CPU version on my PLC is supported by Lookout or Industrial Automation OPC made by National Instruments. Solution: Not all CPU versions of the 90/30 series are supported by Lookout or the IA OPC Server. Currently the GE_Series90 which is the driver that supports the 90/30 Series only supports CPU versions that use the SNPX Serial Protocol or via ethernet using the GE TCP/IP communication module. Current GE 90/30 CPU versions (such as the CPU 374) use SRTP (Secure Real-time Transport Protocol) for ethernet communication and not the TCP/IP communication module to perform ethernet communication and hence are not supported by our driver. As long as the CPU versions can communicate with either Ethernet using TCP/IP Communication Module or SNPX,the GE_Series90 driver object in Lookout and IAOPC should be able to communicate with it. The excel sheet below, provided by GE Fanuc, contains a recent listing of communication methods used by the various CPUs. It is important to note that the spreadsheet below is subject to change at any time. Related Links: Difference between SNP and SNPX Protocols Attachments:
