My GPIB-USB-B Does Not Communicate with My Device in the DOS Shell with 488.2 version 2.0

Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-488.2
Primary Software Version: 2.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A
Hardware: GPIB>>External Controllers/Convertors>>GPIB-USB-B

Problem: I have installed GPIB-USB-B with the 488.2 driver version 2.0 with DOS support enabled on Windows 2000. I am unable to communicate with my device using a DOS based program written in QuickBASIC. It returns -1 for "ibfind " in the program. Doesn't GPIB-USB-B have DOS support?

Solution: Yes, the GPIB-USB-B has DOS support. However, the methods used to address devices within the DOS shell are a little different than with other operating systems. While addressing devices through the GPIB-USB-B within the DOS shell, use the following methods:
  1. Use ibfind with DEV1 for device at primary address 1, DEV2 for device at primary address 2, and so on.
  2. Specify primary and secondary addresses using ibdev.

Using a device name other than DEVx format will not work.
